The Montblanc “M” series of pens were designed by Marc Newsom, perhaps the most successful and influential figure in industrial design. Marc Newsom’s background is in jewelry, furniture, various products, clothing, and even aircraft cabins among other things. His designs tend to focus on round-shaped objects with little to no sharp edges.
Marc Newsom was selected as one of the 100 most influential people in 2005 by Time Magazine. In 2014 Marc Newsom joined Apple to assist in the design of their many devices and still works with them today. In 2015, one of his Lockheed Lounge chairs were resold at auction for a whopping $4.69 million Australian dollars - about 3.5 million USD – making it the most expensive object ever to be sold by a designer who was still living at the time of its sale.
Unique to other Montblanc pens, the cap of the Montblanc M features a magnet cap closure with a cap that perfectly aligns seamlessly to the body of the pen for a very sleek feel that fans of Marc Newsom’s work will appreciate. Newsom has taken the elegance of Montblanc and created a more free-flowing approach, with a streamlined fountain pen that has more appeal to a younger generation and improved practicality.
This special-edition RED Signature pen features a cap and base of brushed palladium nickel, and red precious resin accents. This fountain pen features an 18-k gold nib, medium-sized.
